Dr. M.venkataratnam Graduated from the college of Engineering , Kakinada in Civil Engineering in the year 1952 after obtaining B.A Degree in pure mathematics from Loyala College, Madras. He specialized in pre-stressed Concrete Engineering in France and was admitted as a member of Societe Des Inginieurs Civil De France, 1955(M.S.C.E. France). He became Fellow of Institute of Engineers (FIE) in the year 1974.
He entered the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and became a Technocrat Administrator. He served in various administrative and managerial positions during his illustrious carries. He was Collector and District Magistrate and Chairman, District Development Board Guntur for over 6 years. He also served as the Secretary AP State Electricity Board for 3 years and later became the MD of AP Industrial development Corporation Hyderabad. In recognition of his managerial and Chairman of the Tobacco Board, Ministry of Commerce, Government of India., and Chairman Coffee Board Bangalore, Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, Chairman cum MD for Rural Electrification Corporation, New Delhi. His carries ascent culminated in his becoming Chairman and MD of Andhra Bank, one of the leading public sector banks in India.
He was awarded the Best Industrial Promotion award by the Federation Of Andhra Pradesh chamber of Commerce in 1975. Nagarjuna University has conferred the Degree of Doctor of Letters(Honoris Causa) in 1987 in recognition of his outstanding services in the field of Education & Human Resources Development.
He has acquired rich experience in Development Financing, International Trade, Project Panning and economic development. Keeping in view his outstanding performance in all facets of the development administration, the government has chosen him as the Chairman and MD of one of the premier nationalized Banks. Mr.M.Venkataratnam is the first Technocraft Administrator to be appointed as Chief Executive of a banking institution with the status equivalent to that of a secretary to GOI.
He was born on 22nd Dec, 1927. Even at this ripe old age of 78 years he is continuing to work as Chairman of the Krishna Godavari Power Utilities Limited, Hyderabad, trying to implement innovative ideas of Power Generation and Distributions.
Being a seasoned Technocrat Administrator with outstanding record of perfromence of over 3 decades in varied fields of economic development, he will be equal to any task at the National and International level as Chief of any result oriented assignment.
